Included in your 2023 Water Finance Conference registration is a Garrett A. Morgan Water Treatment Plant tour and Superior Avenue Pump Station visit. The tour will take place August 8 from 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The Garrett Morgan treatment plant is only a 5-minute bus ride from the Aloft. The tour will take about 1 hour. On the way back, we’ll stop at the nearby Superior Avenue Pump Station and hear about NEORSD’s extensive CSO reduction work. Attendees will be transported to and from by a provided shuttle bus.

Cleveland Water’s Garrett A. Morgan Water Treatment Plant has been in operation for more than a century. The plant is named after Cleveland inventor Garrett A. Morgan whose gas mask invention was used to rescue miners trapped in the tunnel during a water intake extension in the early 1900s. During more than 100 years of operation, the plant has undergone multiple rehabilitation projects to ensure that it remains a viable, reliable 150 million gallon per day drinking water treatment facility.

The Superior Avenue Pump Station was featured on Sewer Divers, a show on the History channel in Episode #1 called, “It’s not mud.” Watch it here: https://vimeo.com/778253750 using password: Tuff101#
